Helping Haiti
We continue to monitor the needs and opportunities for ministering among our Haitian brothers and sisters following the earthquake on January 12. In late January, we made an initial $10,000 grant from Pure Water, Pure Love for drilling wells and cleaning out damaged wells.
Thank you for supporting our ministries like Pure Water, Pure Love, and giving through the HEART Fund so the people of Haiti may begin the process of healing and recovery. Please continue to help in the following ways:
- PRAY—Continue to pray for those who have been directly impacted in Haiti as well as many family members in the US. Pray also for relief workers who continue to serve.
- SERVE—If you have a Haitian church in your area, reach out to them to see if there are ways you can work with them to help meet the needs of their people. This is a great time to build relationships and offer encouragement to them.
- GIVE—WMU® will request a grant from the HEART (Humanitarian Emergency Aid for Rebuilding Tomorrow) Fund, held by the WMU Foundation, to assist our Baptist sisters in this part of the world as they seek to help others and begin rebuilding. 100% of the money received for the HEART Fund goes directly to meet the needs of the people affected. To donate, go to www.wmufoundation.com or send a check to the WMU Foundation, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, AL 35242, and note “HEART Fund” on the check.
The challenges in Haiti are immense and recovery efforts will be challenging. WMU is committed to providing assistance in whatever way is needed in the coming months and years. Join us today as we pray, reach out to those from Haiti in our midst, and prepare to assist with rebuilding with financial gifts through the HEART Fund.
